Emergency Nurse Practitiooner - Duty & Assessment Overview
Working in Minor Injury Units across Gloucestershire, see, treat & discharge minor injuries without always needing to refer patients to a doctor. Practitioners are responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
- Assessing patients, including pain assessment and management
- Diagnosing problems such as sprains, strains, cuts, and bites
- Giving medication, either orally or via injectionTreating minor injuries, including burns and wounds
- Reading and assessing X-rays
- Administering some medications, including antibiotics
- Providing wound closures, plastering, and dressings
Practitioners are expected to work autonomously, but they also need to be able to work well within a team. They should have excellent written and verbal skills, and be able to organise and prioritise their own workload and the workload of others.
Must have:
- Minor Injury and Illness experience
- Ability to independently prescribe
- IRMER certificate
