We are currently seeking compassionate and skilled Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurses to support the team. This is an excellent opportunity for nurses looking for flexible shifts across 3 to 5 days per week, including days, nights, and weekends.

NICU Nurse - Duty & Assessment overview
Roles and Responsibilities of a NICU Nurse
NICU Nurse specializes in caring for newborn infants who are premature, critically ill, or require special medical attention. Their responsibilities include both medical care and emotional support for the baby’s family.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Monitor vital signs of newborns (heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, etc.)
- Administer medications and intravenous (IV) fluids as prescribed
- Provide respiratory support, including operating ventilators and CPAP machines
- Perform and assist with procedures such as intubation, blood draws, and central line care
- Assess and document the condition of infants, reporting any changes to the neonatal team
- Manage feeding (tube feeding, bottle feeding, breastfeeding support)
- Respond quickly to emergencies, such as sudden drops in vital signs
Collaborative Responsibilities
- Work closely with neonatologists, pediatricians, and other specialists
- Participate in daily rounds and contribute to treatment plans
- Coordinate with other nursing staff to ensure continuity of care
- Liaise with social workers, dietitians, and physiotherapists as needed
Family Support
- Educate and support parents and families, helping them understand their baby’s condition and care plan
- Encourage parent involvement in care, including skin-to-skin contact (kangaroo care)
- Provide emotional support during what can be a highly stressful time for families
Administrative and Compliance Tasks
- Maintain accurate patient records
- Adhere to infection control protocols
- Follow hospital policies and regulatory standards (e.g., NMC guidelines in the UK)
- Participate in continuing education to stay current with neonatal care practices
